QUITO, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- China's willingness to keep the door open to dialogue with the United States to address differences and mitigate tensions between the two powers should be lauded, Ecuador's former Foreign Minister Francisco Carrion has said.
"With all due respect, I very often hear people in this country say this is something universal. But when they say universal, it's mainly the United States and a couple of European countries," said the ambassador, responding to another question about "an almost universally held criticism of China (on Xinjiang)."
This is a necessary move opposing the U.S. anti-China forces' flagrant interference in China's internal affairs over a long period of time. It is also a solemn move to safeguard China's national sovereignty, security and development interests.
What they have done not only is far from the truths and science, but has dragged the world's most important relationship into a dangerous zone.
Noting that there is a long history behind the situation in the South China Sea, the ambassador said, "we have our historical claim and we have strong historical and legal support for our claims, but still we are ready to negotiate with other countries concerned for a peaceful solution to the disputes. That's why we are working with the ASEAN countries over the years." Cui had worked for quite a few years with the ASEAN countries on drawing up the Declaration of Conduct for the parties concerned.
"They must seek dialogue, especially between two great world powers, respecting their fundamental interests," said Carrion.
John W. Allen, former vice chairman of the United Nations (UN) Business Council, told Xinhua that he applauds the mutual success that has occurred for the two countries over the past 41 years, and is distressed by the negative language being used to describe China in the U.S. press.
On the relations with China, despite Pompeo's botched attempt to sow discord, Babis said that the Czech Republic "seeks lines with the European Union and there's no fundamental problem here."
On the occasion, Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Yao Jing said the Chinese government attached great importance to the cooperation between China and Pakistan to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
BEIJING, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- Starting a "diplomatic war" does not prove the strength of the United States, but exposes its increasing lack of confidence, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said Wednesday.
He said Hong Kong is part of China and its affairs are entirely China's internal affairs which allow no foreign interfere. "We urge the U.S. side to grasp the situation, correct its mistake, and immediately stop meddling in Hong Kong affairs and China's internal affairs."
