BEIJING, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- The Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of China's State Council on Monday voiced firm support for the Chinese foreign ministry's decision to impose sanctions against U.S. senator Marco Rubio and 10 other U.S. individuals with egregious records on Hong Kong affairs.
"I want to be very honest and frank with all of you, the real question for America is: Is the United States ready to live with another country with a different history, different culture, different system, but with no intention to compete for global dominance with the United States?" Cui asked. "Are you ready to live with us in peace? This is the fundamental question. Hopefully, politicians, diplomats, journalists, scholars here could think about this really seriously."
"The root cause is that some American politicians who are biased against and hostile to China are using their power to smear China with fabrications and impede normal ties with China under various pretexts," said Wang, pointing out that such American politicians ultimately want to drag China and the United States into renewed conflict and confrontation and plunge the world into chaos and division again.

From China and Japan in Asia, Germany in Europe, to Brazil and Argentina in Latin America, a bunch of U.S. trade partners have suffered from tariff sanctions or unfair agreements skewed towards some short-term American interests.
For instance, the ambassador said, China has already solved the border issues and concluded treaties with 12 of the 14 countries with which it has land borders.
China and the United States should also expand mutually beneficial cooperation in all fields, and cement popular support for their relations, said Yang.
"From the outset of the normalization process, China-U.S. relations have always been based on the common understanding that both sides recognize and respect each other's different social system," said Yang, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee.
BEIJING, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- China has provided the United States with over 26.5 billion face masks and other medical supplies, and hopes that the United States can overcome the COVID-19 epidemic at an early date, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said on Friday.
The past 41 years has not all been smooth sailing for China-U.S. relations, Yang said, noting there have been ups and downs and even major setbacks on the way. "However, the two countries have always approached their relationship from a historical perspective and with the bigger picture in mind."
